Brazilian college student expelled for wearing short pink dress!

A near riot at a Brazilian college over a woman wearing a short pink dress!

20-year-old Geisy Arruda was expelled from college and had to be escorted by armed guards after the private Bandeirante University in Sao Bernardo do Campo, outside Sao Paulo, said she disrespected “ethical principles, academic dignity, and morality”. The mob of students followed her calling her a whore while others threatened to rape her. She had to put on a professor’s lab white coat before police escorted her away.

The university said it had warned Geisy to change her behavior and decided to expel her after talking to students, staff, and Geisy herself. They accused her of posing for pictures and provoking other students.

The university said it was also temporarily suspending some of the students who were seen heckling Geisy who were seen on video later posted on Youtube.

Brazil’s national student union released a statement saying it was against the university’s decision to expel Geisy. Brazil’s top official for women’s policy also said that the decision showed intolerance and discrimination.

Now the university has backed down and allowed Geisy Arruda to return to school. They had received worldwide negative reaction after the video surfaced of Geisy’s treatment by fellow students.

Hours after the Brazilian government demanded an explanation from the university, its dean released a statement saying he was reversing the school’s decision to expel Geisy. The Education Ministry had also given the university 10 days to explain their reason for kicking her out of school.

Geisy says she was humiliated by the experience and was never warned by university officials:

“It’s a big lie that I raised my dress. If a security guard or a professor had told me something I would have humbly returned home and changed my clothes,” she said, accompanied by seven lawyers at a packed press conference.”

Geisy says she wants to return to school but is also scared about going back:

“I only want to go into the classroom, sit down, study and take tests.”

“I always dressed in a way that makes me feel good and that doesn’t offend anybody. I was always like that and was never recriminated by anybody.”
